Gumeracha is a small town located in the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia. While it may be small in size, it is big in heart and community spirit, evidenced by the number of seasonal events and activities that take place throughout the year. From festivals and markets to outdoor pursuits and live music gigs, there is something for everyone in Gumeracha and its surrounding areas.

Summer Events

In the summer months, Gumeracha comes alive with a range of outdoor activities and events. One of the most popular is the Gumeracha District Lions Club Farmers Market, which takes place on the third Sunday of every month at the Gumeracha Oval. Here, visitors can browse stalls selling fresh produce, crafts, plants, and more, while enjoying live music and entertainment.

For those who enjoy sports and fitness, the Cycling SA Super Series is a must-attend event. This annual cycling competition sees riders of all ages and abilities take to the roads around Gumeracha and its neighboring towns, competing in various races and categories. The event typically takes place over several days in January, and attracts a sizeable crowd of spectators.

Autumn Events

As the air starts to cool and the leaves start to change color, Gumeracha and its surrounds are transformed into a picturesque autumn wonderland. One of the best ways to experience this season is to take a ride on the unique heritage attraction, the Gumeracha Steam Ranger. This train journey winds through the scenic Adelaide Hills, passing through tunnels, over bridges, and past stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Autumn is also harvest time, and there are several events and festivals that celebrate the abundance of locally grown produce. The Adelaide Hills Crush Festival is a favorite, featuring tastings and masterclasses from some of the region's best wineries and breweries. Another popular event is the Gumeracha Olive Festival, which showcases the area's olive groves and producers, with plenty of food, music, and family-friendly activities.

Winter Events

Despite the colder weather, there are still plenty of reasons to venture out and enjoy the hospitality of Gumeracha's community. One of the highlights of the winter season is the Winter Reds Weekend, a celebration of the region's best red wines and hearty winter food. Held over a three-day weekend in July, this event features wine tastings, vineyard tours, and special events at local wineries and restaurants.

For something a little different, the Gumeracha Medieval Fair is a medieval-themed festival that takes place in August. This event features reenactors, jousting knights, live music, and traditional food and drink, transporting visitors back to a bygone era of chivalry and adventure.
